Why is the World Cup so important?
The World Cup is a tournament where countries compete to win it all. All teams are guaranteed to play at least 3 games. Only the best make it through the group stages. This tournament only happens every 4 years so to make it far and win it all means so much to the fans and players of the countries.
Group Stage
The group stage is where teams show off their strength while trying their hardest to advance to the next round. The top 2 teams make it, and the 3rd placed team has a chance to make it depending on how well the performed in their respective group.
Knockout Stage
The knockout stage is where it is do or die for teams. It starts with round of 32 where there is evidently 32 teams. Then it cuts in half to 16 teams at the round of 16. After that, it becomes the quarter finals. The final 4 teams make the semi-finals. The winners face eachother in the final. The losers of those games play each other for a chance to get 3rd place.
